We are proud to have been involved in the development of accessible, usable and well-designed sites. Here are some examples of recent sites we have built for a variety of clients.

PrimaVista Braille Music Store
www.primavistamusic.com

  • search, download or buy braille sheet music
  • offers transcriptions of copyright music produced in partnership with some of the world’s most innovative music publishers

Challenge: incorporating a low-cost CMS solution and designing templates so that PrimVista music could update their product catalog and manage purchases
Result: A CMS was integrated into custom built, accessible templates that reflected their core values including an online shop. This flexible solution has given PrimaVista the ability to update any part of the site, manage their music catalogue and purchases.

Claro Technologies (Site not live)

  • Consultancy, ICT Training and Learning Management Solutions
  • offers training for various sectors including 'Silver Surfers'

Challenge: to create a number of CSS-based templates that will form the basis of a new site that is accessible and usable
Result: an attractive website using standards-compliant templates tested thoroughly for accessibility, usability and cross-browser compliance

Somerset Sight

  • independent, self-funding local charity
  • 3200 people currently using their services

Challenge: incorporating a low-cost CMS solution and designing templates so that Somerset had control over their content and were able to maintain their site themselves
Result: QnECMS was integrated into custom built, accessible templates that reflected their core values. This flexible solution has given Somerset the ability to update any part of the site.

My Web My Way – BBC

  • BBC have a strong agenda of inclusion and AbilityNet have worked with them for many years
  • wanted a major resource for users seeking to customise their computer for ease of use

Challenge: to build an accessible and usable site that fits into the current bbc.co.uk structure and maintain BBC brand values
Result: an attractive and usable site that offers a wealth of information to assist everyone in optimising their computer and the internet for their particular requirements

Northern Pinetree Trust (NPT)

  • organisation working with people with a long term illness or disability in County Durham
  • wanted a new website that would serve the needs of their visitors regardless of their disability or familiarity with the internet

Challenge: working to a tight budget; to create an easy to maintain website that is attractive and accessible
Result: a website reflecting their brand values, integrated with an easy to use CMS and AbilityNet's templates ensuring accessibility and a high standard of usability in future, and launched compliant with W3C AAA

Karten Network (currently undergoing re-development)

  • organisation working with partners to provide opportunities for young people and adults with disabilities to develop IT skills and the personal qualities needed to progress in life
  • wanted a new, easy to use, site that also included an accessible forum

Challenge: to migrate existing content into a new site that is accessible and usable and train staff in using the CMS to maintain accessibility
Result: an accessible website and forum launched on time and compliant with W3C AAA and trained staff able to update it

  • organisation working to match volunteers with volunteering opportunities
  • wanted a redesign of their existing table-based website offering the only national database of volunteering opportunities in the UK

Gateway

  • a Europe-wide initiative to encourage the use of Assistive Technologies by those in tertiary education and in work
  • a website database was required to deliver information on technology and services across Europe for Young People, Educators and Employers

Challenge: to develop an accessible data-driven website in three languages that enables users to find information easily, and an accessible interface for administrators to update content
Result: an accesible and usable site that complies with all related European accessibility guidelines and the findings of extensive disabled user testing
